Vietnam NowVIETNAM NOW: CONTEMPORARY PAINTINGS FROM HANOI, a catalogue from the exhibit that was curated by Jonathan W. Warren for the Dong Phong Art Gallery, Vietnam and exhibited at the Billy King Showroom in Seattle. Warren selected works by five Vietnamese painters who reside in Hanoi for "Serendipitous Passions", this is the first exhibit of an ongoing series featuring the work of five artists from outside the U.S.A. Childe HassamCHILDE HASSAM: IMPRESSIONIST IN THE WEST by the Portland Art Museum’s Associate Curator of American art, Margaret Bullock. This richly-illustrated large-scale catalogue presents Hassam's gorgeous early 20th Century impressionist paintings of street scenes and landscapes from New England to Oregon. Hassam (1859-1935), whose work is often compared to that of Monet, made several trips to Oregon in the early 1900s. He worked in the plein air style to capture the rapidly changing light and atmospheric conditions of the American wilderness and emerging civilization.
